God Believes In You, Why Don’t You?

From the beginning of time, man has been trying to fulfill his purpose on the Earth, whether he knew it or not. Jeremiah 29:11 declares that the plans God has for us are prosperous and full of hope. God knew who we were supposed to become before we were even formed in our mother’s womb. He placed a special gift within each of us and He watches and waits for his plan for our lives to come to pass. The problem, however, is often that we ourselves don’t believe in God’s purpose for our lives – not because we doubt Him, but because we doubt ourselves. For many of us, we have seen a glimpse of what our lives can be when we fulfill the plan God has set out for us, but we allow the devil to convince us that it’s simply our imagination. He’s clever (and annoying). He plants seeds of doubt in us in different ways and is great at what he does. As he disguises himself as self-doubt, low self-esteem, and lack of confidence, he successfully dissuades us from going after God’s plan. For those of us who make it past these smoke screens and jump right into our ordained purpose, he meets us again, this time as obstacles in our journey, and uses hardships, setbacks, and disappointments as false evidence to convince us that we are not the right ones for the job. He causes us to believe that the roadblocks we are facing are signs that maybe God made a mistake in choosing us and that He would be better off selecting another, more capable servant. It’s times like these, when we feel surrounded by the devil’s lies, that we must remember three simple truths:

  1. God is intentional.
  2. God knows all.
  3. God loves you.

God makes no decision lightly. Most of the greatest stories in the Bible began with God selecting someone to do something they didn’t feel qualified to do. Each situation had its ups and downs, obstacles and roadblocks. And in each situation, the secret to victory was within the chosen vessel. God will be with us when we feel weak, discouraged, and lost. Hebrews 13: 5 reassures us that He loves us too much to ever leave or forsake us. The key is to know that if the all-knowing, all-powerful God chose me for this task, I am the right one (period!). The presence of roadblocks is not specific to you. There would be roadblocks regardless of who was facing them. God was intentional when He chose you because He knew you would be able to weather the storm ahead. If God believes in you, nothing and no one should be able to stop you.
